A living guardian of ciranda and a treasure of Brazilian popular culture, Lia de Itamaracá is an icon of Northeastern music and one of the most striking voices of the country’s oral tradition. Born on the island of Itamaracá (PE), she began singing as a child but only gained national recognition in the 1990s, after decades dedicated to the resistance and reinvention of ciranda — a traditional rhythm and dance from the Pernambuco coast. With her hypnotic singing and powerful compositions, she became a symbol of Afro-Brazilian ancestry and an essential figure in popular culture. Throughout her career, Lia has performed in several countries such as France, Germany, and the United States, establishing herself as an international representative of Brazilian music. Her show is a vibrant celebration of Northeastern identity, blending music, dance, and tradition. Accompanied by her band, the “Queen of Ciranda” returns to MIMO with a repertoire that includes classics like “Ciranda de Rosa Vermelha” and “Essa Ciranda Quem Me Deu Foi Lia,” inviting the audience to join hands and share the energy of the circle. For the show at Circo Voador, Lia invites the Pernambuco-born singer, composer, and actress Natascha Falcão to the stage. The artist released her debut album, Ave Mulher (Biscoito Fino), in March 2023 and was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award in the “Best New Artist” category — the only Brazilian nominated in that category that year. Beyond international recognition, Natascha has performed on important stages across Brazil, establishing herself as one of the most promising voices of the new generation of Brazilian music.
