MIMO FOR CHILDREN – A FESTIVAL TO SPARK IMAGINATION

Created in 2005 as a complementary activity of the MIMO Festival, MIMO for Children was born with the purpose of building new audiences and offering meaningful cultural experiences from an early age. Until 2018, the project was carried out in the form of performance-lectures, where invited artists visited public schools in festival host cities, introducing children to the world of classical and instrumental music.

In 2022, MIMO for Children evolved into an independent youth-oriented festival, making its debut in Rio de Janeiro with a free and inclusive program. Inspired by the curatorial approach of the main festival, it brings together music, theater, circus, literature, visual arts, storytelling, and creative workshops — always promoting diversity, sustainability, heritage, and the value of childhood.

In 2023, the festival expanded to the cities of Serra (Espírito Santo) and São Francisco do Sul (Santa Catarina), drawing large audiences to open-air venues for free performances by leading names in youth and performing arts. Each edition featured over 100 activities, held in public spaces that highlight the natural and cultural heritage of the host cities.

MIMO for Children is an invitation to enchantment — a space where art opens paths to discovery, sparks imagination, and nurtures an emotional connection with culture.
