The Ceccato Béchemin Duo brings together flutist Sofia Ceccato and bassoonist Simon Béchemin in a rare and captivating combination. Sofia, soloist with the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Symphony Orchestra, is renowned for her refined technique, mastery of the instrument, and expressive stage presence. She holds a master’s degree in interpretative practices and is also the founder of the Trio Capitu. Simon, trained at the Conservatoire National de Paris and the Cologne University of Music, has been a member of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra since 2014 and performs with groups such as the Villa-Lobos Quintet and the UNIRIO Baroque Orchestra. During the pandemic, the musicians began performing concerts on their balcony, which gave birth to the duo. The flute’s delicacy combined with the bassoon’s resonance creates a unique sonic experience, blending lightness and depth. This concert, commented on by the artists themselves, is part of MIMO Rio’s Educational Program, offering the audience an immersive exploration of the dialogue and nuances between the instruments.
