One of the most powerful and versatile voices in the Brazilian music scene, Juliana Linhares, from Rio Grande do Norte, is a singer, songwriter, and actress who has led the band Pietá since 2012. In March 2021, she released her debut solo album, Nordeste Ficção, which has toured all Brazilian states and several European countries. With artistic direction by Marcus Preto and musical production by Elísio Freitas, the album was conceived as a theater script, autofiction novel, and docudrama. It carries an irresistible beauty and joy, reminiscent of the classic LPs by Amelinha, Elba Ramalho, Cátia de França, Terezinha de Jesus, and other names from the Northeastern generation that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It also evokes the poetic grandeur of Alceu Valença, Ednardo, Belchior, and Zé Ramalho, while dialoguing with heirs like Chico César, Zeca Baleiro, Rita Benneditto, and Lenine. Following the album's success, the track “Bombinha” was featured in the soundtrack of the TV Globo soap opera Mar do Sertão, with Juliana participating as an actress. The song was re-recorded by Daniela Mercury in 2022. Another track, “Balanceiro,” was included in the soundtrack of the soap opera Renascer (2023). In 2025, Juliana will also be part of MIMO’s program in Portugal. At the Rio de Janeiro edition, the artist will bid farewell to her successful Nordeste Ficção tour, celebrating with the local audience a work that has become a benchmark in contemporary Northeastern music.
