Mocofaia is a trio formed by Luizinho do Jêje, Marcelo Galter, and Sylvio Fraga. The group is rooted in collective creation, with compositions emerging from the dialogue between percussion, keyboards, synthesizers, and voice, focusing on groove as a shared language. Their debut album, released by the Rocinante label, blends tradition and experimentation with an original approach, and has been praised by music critics. Rolling Stone highlighted: “Mocofaia shines in a debut full of poetry and Afro-Brazilian spirit.” Luizinho do Jêje is a percussionist and founder of the group Aguidavi do Jêje, dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural traditions of African origin in Brazil. Marcelo Galter is a pianist, composer, and producer with a strong presence in the Salvador music scene, actively engaged in musical research and education projects. Sylvio Fraga is a composer, writer, and artistic director of Rocinante, with a background spanning literature, music, and other contemporary creative fields. Their rich palette of sounds reflects a balanced union of artistic visions, which engage reverently with popular traditions while projecting an innovative and expressive horizon for the group’s work. The repertoire evokes key figures in Brazilian music — from Gilberto Gil, Naná Vasconcelos, and Tom Jobim to Olodum — and resonates with voices and rhythms from the African continent, such as Sona Jobarteh, Oumou Sangaré, and Francis Bebey. An invitation to experience the power and originality of this live encounter.
