Composed of seasoned performers well known in the early music scene, the Iberian Ensemble is a group of musicians from the Iberian Peninsula dedicated to interpreting and promoting Iberian and Latin American Baroque repertoire. The Amarante Conservatory, meanwhile, is a renowned institution of artistic education that welcomes students of all ages and levels, maintaining strong ties with the local community. Together, they present the premiere concert Atlantic Wind: from Lisbon to Olinda, evoking the back-and-forth musical echoes of the Luso-Brazilian diaspora in the 18th and 19th centuries. Using historical instruments — such as Baroque flute, theorbo, Baroque guitar, archlute, and Baroque cello — they revisit the 18th-century sonorities of works by composers from Pernambuco like Luís Álvaro Pinto (Recife, 1719–1789) and Thomaz da Cunha Lima Cantuária (1800–1878), along with the Modinhas Imperiais compiled by Mário de Andrade. The sacred and the profane, the erudite and the popular, intertwine in this expressive performance that highlights the artistic dialogue between Portugal and Brazil.
