MIMO FESTIVAL & JAZZ IN MARCIAC: MUSIC AS A BRIDGE OF UNITY AND EXCHANGE BETWEEN CULTURES
Building bridges instead of walls: this is the spirit of Jazz in Marciac and the MIMO Festival as they reunite within the framework of the Brazil-France Crossed Season 2025 / Saison Croisée Brésil-France 2025, supported by the Institut Français and the Brazilian Commissariat.
More than ten years after their last joint collaborations, this new cooperation will allow for an exchange of best practices—and top-quality music! From concerts to masterclasses, French artists will perform in Olinda during the MIMO Festival, while Jazz in Marciac will welcome renowned musicians from the Brazilian scene.
On both sides, the same creativity pulses, finding its strength and quality in the love for multicultural exchange. Art and culture thrive on diversity—and it has never been more important to affirm this in the political context we live in.
That is why this Brazil-France Crossed Season represents a precious opportunity to relaunch a long-lasting partnership with clear ambitions: sharing expertise, interlinking resources, and establishing a cultural collaboration dedicated to our shared values.
Or, simply put: enriching ourselves through our differences!
Brazil-France Crossed Season 2025
Launched by Emmanuel Macron and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Brazil-France Crossed Season 2025 / Saison Croisée Brésil-France 2025 celebrates 200 years of bilateral relations and aims to strengthen the ties between the two countries. Structured around three main pillars—Climate and Ecological Transition; Diversity of Societies and Dialogue with Africa; Democracy and Rule of Law—the initiative also seeks to boost cooperation in areas such as culture, economy, research, education, and sports, with special focus on youth and professional exchanges.
The Season will take place between April and September 2025 in France, and between August and December of the same year in Brazil.
The event is coordinated by:
- In Brazil: Instituto Guimarães Rosa, under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the Brazilian Embassy in France, and the Brazilian Commissariat, headed by Emilio Kalil.
- In France: Institut Français, with the support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, the French Embassy in Brazil, and the French Commissariat, led by Anne Louyot.
