The Lisbon-based band celebrates and reinvents funaná, a traditional rhythm from Cape Verde, with a contemporary and energetic approach. Formed by experienced musicians — Francisco Rebelo (bass), João Gomes (keys), Edu Mundo (drums), Danilo Lopes and David Pessoa (vocals and guitars) — the group blends funk, rock, and pop sounds with the vibrant and danceable rhythms of Cape Verdean music. The band’s name evokes the volcanic island of Fogo, reflecting the strength and intensity that define their live performances. Since their earliest shows, Fogo Fogo have captivated audiences with vibrant and fiery performances, establishing themselves as a key reference in the Lusophone music scene. Recently, the band unveiled new work: in March 2024, they released their second original album, “Nha Rikeza”, showcasing a renewed creative vision. In February 2025, they celebrated their tenth anniversary with a special edition of their EP, titled “Fogo Fogo” EP (10th Anniversary Edition), featuring iconic material from the group. On stage, Fogo Fogo create an infectious party atmosphere, inviting everyone to dance and celebrate, affirming their place as one of the most dynamic and authentic voices in contemporary Afro-Lusophone music.
