Based on the idea that music is the organization of sound as a form of language, percussionist This workshop explores the legacy of Moacir Santos (1926–2006), one of Brazil’s most original composers, arrangers, and conductors. Andrea Ernest Dias presents a musical journey through Moacir’s creative path, highlighting the fusion of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, jazz harmonies, and orchestral writing. The session includes listening, analysis, and live performance, showcasing the versatility of his music—from his time with Rádio Nacional to his innovative albums recorded in the U.S. The workshop invites musicians, students, and music lovers to dive into a unique soundscape that transcends genres and borders.
