1. IS THE FESTIVAL ENTIRELY FREE OF CHARGE?

Yes, it is. All cultural programming, musical concerts, and educational activities available at the Festival are free of charge for all the audience.

2. WHEN DOES MIMO FESTIVAL AMARANTE 2024 TAKE PLACE?

The edition of MIMO Festival 2024, in the city of Amarante, takes place on July 19, 20 and 21, from Friday to Sunday.

The concerts of MIMO Festival 2024, in Amarante, start on July 19th, at 7 pm, at the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum.

3. WHERE CAN I FIND THE SCHEDULE, AND THE ARTISTS CONFIRMED AT THE FESTIVAL?

4. IS IT NECESSARY TO COLLECT TICKETS FOR THE SIDE ACTIVITIES?

For some programming activities, those that take place in closed and cultural spaces, and with limited audience capacity, we are working with the withdrawal of tickets for internal control, as directed by the City Council. In these cases, follow our programming on our website and social media.

Ensure your ticket through the website indicated on our official channels, and be punctual.

If you are not there on time, we will give it to another participant. However, we would like you to be learning from us.

5. HOW CAN I FIND A PLACE TO STAY TO WATCH THE FESTIVAL?

The city of Amarante and nearby municipalities have hotels, inns and lodgings where you can book accommodation for the desired period.

6. IS THERE A FOOD COURT AT MIMO FESTIVAL?

Yes, there is. There is a food court integrated into the MIMO Festival space.

7. I DO NOT LIVE IN AMARANTE, BUT I WANT TO GO TO MIMO FESTIVAL. HOW DO I GET THERE?

Amarante is very well located, between the coast and the northern interior of Portugal, with excellent transport routes: the Porto/Marco de Canaveses Urban Train Line, which in turn is connected to the Porto/Régua - Pocinho Regional Line and the A4 - motorway that connects Porto to Bragança.

Driving…

For those who arrive in the north of Portugal through Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (in Porto), driving, whether taxi or your own, using the A4, is the fastest way of transport. The road is 59 km long, and takes about 37 minutes.

If you want to know more about which other highways you can use to get to Amarante from other parts of the country, we suggest you check your map app, Google Maps, Waze or other.

By Bus…

To get to Amarante from any region of Portugal or Spain, you can use the Express Bus network and Rodonorte.

If you arrive through Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (in Porto), you can use the Metro or bus to reach terminals such as the Campanhã Intermodal Terminal, and thus continue your trip to Amarante.

By Train…

When using the Porto/Marco de Canaveses Urban Train Line, from S. Bento or Campanhã Station to Vila Meã Train Station, close to Amarante, it will take about 57 minutes.

From Vila Meã you can easily reach the center of Amarante by car, taxi or using the public transport network, taking between 20 and 30 minutes.

8. I AM AN ARTIST AND I WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN MIMO FESTIVAL. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

9. HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES?

The Educational Programming is open to the public, but it is aimed especially at music students and professional musicians. Applications for the educational programming must be made in advance by e-mail educativo@mimofestival.com, indicating the workshop of interest in the subject.

Depending on the activity, there may be a curriculum review process, through the application form, in order to select the participants of each activity that we offer.

10. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW LONG DOES THE FESTIVAL EXIST, IN HOW MANY COUNTRIES, AND IN WHICH CITIES HAS THE MIMO FESTIVAL ALREADY BEEN HELD?

MIMO Festival has been held for more than 20 years in Brazil, Portugal and Scotland.

In Brazil, the first edition was held in the city of Olinda, in Pernambuco, which created its name: Mostra Internacional de Música de Olinda - MIMO, since 2004. It has already been carried out in 12 cities in Brazil.

Since 2016, seven years ago, it is being held in Portugal. It has already been carried out in the cities of Amarante, and in 2022, in the city of Porto, returning to Amarante in 2024, where it all began.

Moreover, in 2017, it was held in Glasgow, Scotland.

11. WHAT IS THE AUDIENCE CAPACITY FOR THE CONCERTS? IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY OF FULL CAPACITY?

The capacity varies with location and the cultural space where it is being held. Activities carried out indoors are subject to full capacity. Therefore, it is necessary to follow our programming on the website and social media, in order to guarantee the tickets (when applicable), as well as being punctual. If you are not there on time, we will give your ticket to another participant. We are working so everyone can be included safely and comfortably.

12. IS MIMO AN ACCESSIBLE FESTIVAL?

One of the greatest premises of the festival is to offer, in a democratic way, the greatest possible inclusion of the audience. That is why we strive to create an accessible structure for people with disabilities everywhere that there are MIMO activities.

In addition, we are not limited to the Festival; our website was also developed in order to serve everyone, in an accessible way to think about all needs.

13. HOW DO I PURCHASE MIMO FESTIVAL PRODUCTS?

In the MIMO Festival area, we have MIMO stores in the Festival venues. You can also purchase the MIMO products by contacting us at mimo@mimofestival.com.
