XENIA FRANÇA Brazil

Xenia is a black, female singer from the State of Bahia (Northeast Brazil). She is a reference on empowerment and female behavior in an artistic scene targeted at redeeming and sharing Afro-Brazilian culture.

She has nurtured her love for music since she was a little girl. She grew up with influences by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Gilberto Gil, and Elza Soares. She was still a teenager when she moved to Sao Paulo. In 2007, she started her career, in Sao Paulo nightlife, singing samba songs and MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) major hits in partnership with the late Grupo Capadoxe. For 7 years, she was a band member to Aláfia.

Expressing her world view through very personal lenses, paying homage to her roots, and her love to Cuban culture, Xenia’s solo-debut in the Brazilian musical scene happened upon releasing her album ‘Xenia’. The album brings essentially pop sounds with some touches of electronic music, jazz, samba-reggae, rock, and R&B. In 2018, she was nominated to the Latin Edition of Grammy for her greatest hit ‘Para que me chamas’ (Why are you calling me for). She has performed in big festivals, such as Recbeat, Coala, and Queremos. Also, she has toured the US for the first time and performed at Summerstage in NYC, and in Philadelphia. In 2019, she brings her smooth voice and exciting self to MIMO Festival for the first time.
