FEMMININE HI-FI BRAZIL

With the mission of gathering, fostering, and sharing knowledge, Feminine Hi-Fi was created in preparation for organizing a party to celebrate International Women’s Day. The aim is to treasure and highlight female figure in the music industry. Focusing on the context of sound systems typical of Jamaican culture and on stimulating the language of reggae as the expression against oppression on gender issues, the project was founded in 2016 and it keeps getting stronger as time goes by.

The artists perform according to disco club style with interventions by female singers, sing jays, and MCs. The music selection ranges from Jamaican reggae to domestic productions that permeate the same topics. They have already gathered over 100 women in their line-up, such as Letrux, Maria Gadú, Liniker, and Xenia França. Also, they have performed in important events, such as Sao Paulo Virada Cultural.

Other than diving on musical waves in parties, the project also offers workshops on djing, singing, creative composition, and career self-management. It creates a true collective development chain through feminine perspective.
