Regarded as one of the most important Brazilian musicians of his time, Egberto Gismonti is performing masterpieces known to instrumentalists worldwide at the Sao Paulo MIMO Festival. His career is over 40 years long. Gismonti’s artistic work is highly broad and uniquely rich. Critics from all over the world suggest he is a complete artist, whose importance in our time is infinite.
To present, he has recorded and distributed over 60 albums in almost 50 countries with the label Carmo/ECM Records. Also, he has recorded numerous movie soundtracks, and pieces for symphony orchestras. He has a busy schedule full of performances and recordings in the four corners of the world with artists, orchestras, and groups of various nationalities and backgrounds.
For his concert at the Sao Paulo MIMO Festival, he has selected career hits, and pieces by composers he admires, such as Tom Jobim, and Pixinguinha. He is going to offer the audience a rare moment: he is going to perform hits by great Brazilian artists in a very original way. In his 11th concert at MIMO Festival, he is going to perform with the trio Grazie Wirtti (vocal), Rafael Martini (accordion), and Felipe José (cello). Gismonti is going to perform at one of the most beautiful historical legacies of the city: São Bento Monastery.
