Ana de Oliveira and Sérgio Ferraz are excellence-level Brazilian musicians who transformed ideas, experiences, and stories into a project out of the box. Putting together Oliveira’s contemporary violin and multiple sounds by Ferraz, the Pernambuco native composer; the duo has managed to compile a repertoire to pay homage to other artists whose songs are not so widely known to the audience. They combine chords and jams that translate into a tribute to those great milestones in Brazilian music.
Celebrating both Brazilian soul and Brazilian culture, the duo has collected the songs they sang together and recently released the CD “Carta de amor e outras histórias” (Love letter and other stories). The album features artists, such as Roberto Frejat and Egberto Gismonti. Other than those artists, Oliveira and Ferraz have also invited other artists to feature their album, such as Marcos Suzano, percussion, who is joining them on stage during their MIMO performance. Their concert is in MIMO Rio de Janeiro agenda. During the 4th edition of Amarante MIMO Festival in Portugal, their performance was a big hit.
Ana de Oliveira has earned a degree at the Superior School of Music, in Freiburg, Germany. She has also performed in various projects by the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra as a soloist and spalla (concertmaster). Sérgio Ferraz plays the guitar, the 12-chord viola, and the electric guitar. He has recorded 3 albums with original songs. Also, he has performed at major jazz festivals.
