MIMO Festival proudly presents in the city of Porto one of the new artist of the contemporary world classical guitar, the young Brazilian guitar player Plínio Fernandes. At the age of 16, he was accepted by the Royal Academy of Music in London, and nowadays, at the age of 28, his career in international classical music begins to come to prominence. A guitarist since the age of seven, Plínio was born into a family of musicians. At the age of 12, he won competitions and played as a guest soloist of the Campo Grande Symphony Orchestra. In July, his first album was released by Decca Records (USA), “Saudade”, where he talks about his musical loves, and shows duets with the Brazilian singer Maria Rita, and the brothers Braimah, and Sheku Kanneh-Mason. In his recital we can expect Heitor Villa-Lobos, Tom Jobim, Ary Barroso, Milton Nascimento, and Violeta Parra.
