The audience of MIMO Porto will have the opportunity to witness all the vigor and lyricism that come out of the hands and the presence of the Ukrainian pianist Valentina Lisitsa, who calls herself “the queen of Rachmaninoff”. With over half a million subscribers to her channel, and 200 million views on YouTube, she is one of the most watched classical musicians on the Internet. Her first YouTube video was posted in 2007, and she used her digital success to build a structured international career in three continents. Her repertoire is vast, ranging from Bach and Mozart to Shostakovich and Bernstein. Born in Kiev, Valentina began learning piano at the age of three, and in the next year she gave her first public recital. She graduated at the Kiev Conservatory and made her New York debut in 1995. Nowadays, she spends her time between Europe and the United States.
