The magic aspect of this initiative is to make poetry rain in the sky of the cities. Poems printed on coloured papers are thrown from the top of the churches and historic buildings like drops of poetry which reach the public. As a true visual spectacle, the combination of the colours of the papers with the architectural landscape and the surprise of capturing excerpts from the works of important worldwide writers make Chuva de Poesia event one of the most charming moments of MIMO Festival every year.
Created by the poet, graphic artist and editor of Minas Gerais, Guilherme Mansur, Chuva de Poesia has been held in Ouro Preto since 1993 and joined MIMO Festival organization in 2013. Mansur is also responsible for the selection and curatorship of the poems chosen in each edition.
