MIMO of music, MIMO of art, MIMO of culture.
The Festival was born in 2004, in the city of Olinda, Brazil, and has crossed several Brazilian cities, such as Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, João Pessoa, Recife, Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, and, in 2016, had its first international edition, in the charming city of Amarante, in Portugal. Across all of them, it has developed a rich cultural legacy of profound and lasting traits. For 16 years, MIMO has had the presence of various artistic languages, offering high quality music, unique movies, a rich educational agenda, art exhibitions, a Forum of Ideas and the event Rain of Poetry , for the audience, free of charge. The Festival promotes the appreciation for cities and its cultural heritage, the decentralisation of cultural access and the dissemination of music in all its forms and expressions, gathering an impressive range of related activities in churches, museums, parks and theatres. Worldwide renowned artists of the national and international music scene, like Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Tom Zé, Ron Carter, Rui Veloso, Goran Bregovic, Mário Laginha, Céu, Pedro Burmester, Egberto Gismonti, Richard Bona, Hamilton de Holanda, amongst many others, have played at MIMO stages. For the year of 2018, 475 concerts took place. Each edition of the festival counts with both new and established artists. MIMO Festival is a titbit for the heart and soul.
Its pure art, with love!
